As part of the construction work, new cable conduits for power and data cables are being laid parallel to the highway. The PE-HD cable protection pipes are being laid step by step, so careful advance planning was necessary to ensure that the construction schedule could be adhered to.

The choice of pipe material and design was a key factor in ensuring that the pipes could be laid quickly with as few joints as possible.

After intensive consultation with Hundhausen Kunststofftechnik GmbH, the client opted for PE-HD cable protection pipes on drums. This minimized the number of joints and the daily laying rate fitted into the construction planning with reserves. The dimensions of the steel drums used were optimized and the production parameters adjusted in order to avoid ovality of the supplied DA110 X 6.3mm pipe in SR17.6 as far as possible. Proper storage of the material on the construction site played an important role here.

To date, Hundhausen Kunststofftechnik GmbH has supplied 36,000m of pipe in the dimensions OD110 X 10.0mm, 58,000m of pipe in the dimensions OD110 X 6.3mm on steel drums of 400m each and 90,000m of pipe in the dimensions 50 X 4.6mm on steel drums of 2,500m each.
